Trinity Welcomes New Animator Joel Gafford
Trinity Animation’s newest artist is Joel Gafford, from Lone Jack, Missouri. Joel is a talented artist, photographer and animator with expertise in MODO and ZBrush before starting at Trinity.
Despite only being a year out of high school, Joel has a deep portfolio of pen and ink, digital painting, photography, and 3D renderings. He first started to learn Lightwave which his father bought for him at age 11. The Dan Ablan video training series “3D garage Signature Courseware” was instrumental in Joel’s development as a 3D artist.
In high school, Joel played Trombone and handbells in the school band. He also played defensive positions on the school’s soccer team.
Outside of animation, Joel enjoys playing PC video games like Team Fortress 2. He also enjoys driving and working on his 1992 red Mazda Miata sportscar.
I love any and all types of art. I’ve drawn since I could hold a pen, and I’ve been making computer graphic imagery since I was eleven.
– Joel Gafford
Joel Gafford created this pen and ink portrait using traditional techniques on paper. Joel originally did not love the cross-hatch style of shading but eventually embraced it, filling pages with parallel lines until they were perfect.
Before starting at Trinity, Joel Gafford created this product illustration for a collapsible multi-tool. This was a perfect sample for Trinity as we often create beauty shots for marketing purposes.
